Ever since I was a little girl, I have always been drawn to sports and other activities that allowed me to tap into my athletic abilities. Maybe it was because I was the only girl wedged between two brothers whose own athletic careers cast them into the limelight or because my father was a star basketball player and a self-proclaimed sports fanatic who loved nothing more than to watch his three kids train and compete and so in return I worked hard to make him proud. Either way, fitness and competition have always been an important part of my life.
Over the years I’ve traded in my soccer cleats and running shoes for my gym sneakers, dumbbells and a yoga mat. Although my workout regimen has changed, my drive, competitive nature and love for fun and stylish activewear hasn’t. These days life can be hectic. Between caring for two young toddlers and keeping track of their activity schedules and the household responsibilities, the time that I spend at the gym is my time to leave behind the hustle and bustle of everyday life and work on myself.
One thing that my time at the gym has taught me is that Spring 2018 is all about working hard to get fit and looking good doing it. From Athleta to Fabletics to Lululemon, there is no shortage of sexy-chic activewear that will make you feel as good as you look. This season I’m obsessed with the earth tone color trend and flirty tops with cutouts that reveal just enough to earn that second (or third!) look. I love that designers have finally created versatile athleisure that is practical and stylish enough to go from the gym to the grocery store to after school playdates.
One of my favorite ways to end a long (and sometimes chaotic) week is to attend a candlelight yoga class. I find that there is no better way to melt away stress than to stretch your muscles and reconnect with your mind, body and spirit. When it comes to yoga wear, I prefer to wear outfits that hug my curves and allow me to ease into and concentrate on my Nataraja (Lord of the Dance Pose) rather than tugging on loose clothing. I recently purchased this outfit from Athleta to add to my spring activewear collection and I cannot wait to wear it to my next yoga class. Although, I might be slightly more excited for the five minutes of uninterrupted meditation by candlelight (hey, a mom can dream!). Namaste.
